Ooh I hadn’t had a milkshake in years since creating this mint chocolate chip milkshake, and let me tell you, I forgot how good they are! Milk and ice cream and maybe a few extras…so simple but so so good!
With St. Patrick’s day coming up, I wanted to make a simple treat to celebrate. This mint chocolate chip milkshake came to mind, and its the perfect simple, green, festive, and delicious treat that I was looking for. A perfect accompaniment to a fun St. Patrick’s Day dinner!

I love mint chocolate chip ice cream, so it was a natural choice for this milkshake. I also “fancied” it up a little with a chocolate syrup drizzle, and some whipped cream and mini chocolate chips. Sprinkles would be good too!
This milkshake is made using a hand mixing method, instead of a blender. Say whatt? I know, mind blown. Or at least that blew my mind!
I have always used a blender for my milkshakes but my friend Christina, over at A Homebody’s Adventures, showed me how she mixes her milkshake by hand and I decided to try it too. Game changer! It was so much better and I’ll never go back to using a blender, so thanks to Christina for that method!

What you need to make this mint chocolate chip milkshake:
Equipment:
- milkshake mixing cup or a large glass for hand mixing your milkshake
- spoon ( I suggest a long one like this for ease of mixing)
- milkshake serving glass
- ice cream scoop
- measuring cup
- milkshake straw (optional, but fun!)
Ingredients:
- mint chocolate chip ice cream
- 1% milk (or your preferred milk)
- green food coloring (optional)
- chocolate syrup or hot fudge
- whipped cream
- mini chocolate chips or sprinkles (optional)

And that’s it! Super simple. This mint chocolate chip milkshake is a wonderful treat for St. Patrick’s day, but also, any day! I have a new-found love for milkshakes so you can bet I’ll be making this many times over.
Do you love milkshakes? Have you ever hand mixed them? Let me know in the comments below!
