Fall traditions are quite possibly my favorite set of traditions- the one exception maybe being Christmas! But after a long summer, by September I am so ready to bring on all the little traditions of the fall season that I like to celebrate.
Most of these traditions are not anything major or complicated…making some applesauce and apple butter, decorating the house, baking, a Halloween movie countdown and handing out candy…
When we can, we also usually make a trip for apple picking or leaf peeping (I sprinkled some of my favorite leaf peeping pictures throughout this post!). And of course, pumpkin spice everything!
I’m sure I have many other small traditions, like lighting fall scented candles, that I can’t even think of right now! It is definitely the time of year where I crave the comfort of traditions.
It also got me thinking though, about what other people do for their fall traditions! I always like to hear about others’ traditions and what they hold special about each season or holiday.
So, I reached out to some of my blogging besties, and asked them what their favorite fall traditions were! And I love the responses.
Each tradition is unique and so much fun to hear about. And the women behind these responses- well, I HIGHLY urge you to check out each and every one of their blogs!
I have seriously enjoyed getting to know these bloggers and creating a comradery through blogging! And I can attest to the fact that their content is outstanding…so check them out!
Read on below for the 6 (including mine!) favorite fall traditions from bloggers around the web.
6 Favorite Fall Traditions from Bloggers Around the Web!

Lynn from Lynn Mumbing Mejia:
“I grew up with immigrant parents who came to Canada before I was born so Halloween and Thanksgiving were not a thing they really acknowledged. I am head over heels for Fall and the holiday season to New Year so when my husband and I got together, I made sure to celebrate everything I can!
One tradition that has been going on for a while now is spending a full day at the Pumpkin Patch and buying a bunch of local produce and treats. My husband and I would book off an entire weekday off work and head to the local farms, choose a few pumpkins and squash, pick some ambrosia apples, take photos, see the farm animals, get pumpkin butter and a bunch of fun treats! After a long day, we come home and make some hot apple cider with the apples we bought. I cherish this tradition and can’t wait to do it again soon!”

Christina from A Homebody’s Adventures:
“One of my favorite fall traditions is to host an outdoor movie night for my friends. I love to do this in the fall because the weather starts to get a little chilly, which means it’s an opportunity to cozy up outside. I love setting up the space with blankets, pillows, and candles. Basically, making the space as hygge as possible. Then, I, of course, make big batches of hot apple cider and mulled wine to serve. We used to play just horror movies, but now the tradition has spread and our neighbors kids have asked to join. We’ve changed our movie schedule to hold a double feature – one for the kids followed by a movie for the adults.”
Christina has shared a beautiful post of her Halloween Outdoor Movie Night set up!

Jennifer from Poe in Wonderland:
“The Capturing the Spirit of Oakland tour held at Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery is back for its 15th year and will be held in person. The tour is one of the most popular events held in Atlanta in October. This will be the 7th time we’ve participated in the tour! In a normal year, we’d drive down into the city and eat at Six Feet Under restaurant in Grant Park either before or after the event. It’s usually a crisp, fall night and it’s thrilling to walk in the enormous cemetery with flashlights. The actors performing as the spirits have always given a good performance and we’ve enjoyed the music too while waiting for everything to start. Period costumes and real-life historical accounts in a cemetery backlit by the city of Atlanta is spooky and thrilling.”
You can learn more about this fun event in this great post that Jennifer has shared!

Linda from Sip + Sanity:
“Fall is not complete until we celebrate Halloween, and our neighborhood does it up right! We wind our way through the neighborhood for trick-or-treating with a wagon full of drinks — and candy that we hand out along the way. Neighbors grill in their driveways and set up crockpots of chili and other food to share. Some turn their yards and garages into mini haunted houses. We usually end the night by the fire pit with a gaggle of neighbors while the kids run around and burn off some of their sugar haul. It’s something we look forward to all year — rain or shine!”
Last year, Linda shared this spectacular Halloween Grazing Board as part of the festivities!

Michelle from The Balanced CEO:
“Growing up in St. Thomas, USVI we basically had one season all year long so when I moved to the states, Fall quickly became my favorite season. So, every Fall I love to put on a nice cozy sweater with leggings and boots, make a nice cup of warm coffee or tea, and take a scenic drive to find new parks/areas where I can see the beautiful fall leaves. I absolutely love the colors, breathing in the fresh & crisp air, and just be in awe of how amazing nature is.”
Michelle shares SO many amazing posts and resources on her site- check them all out here!

Sarah (that’s me!) from That Lemonade Life:
“I love the fall season- the baking, warm blankets, fires, beautiful colors, and general coziness! One of the first things I do every fall is to decorate for the season. Well, okay, I usually start late summer, but I just can’t wait! I love pulling out my favorite fall decor, switching out my pillow cases and kitchen towels, adding cozy blankets and candles. I usually go with the deep and traditional colors of fall- oranges, reds, deep green, gold and yellow. I’m just so drawn to them! But I also love to experiment, so you may find me trying out some new things each year!”

These traditions were so much fun to read so thank you for sharing them! The one tradition we have is to make caramel apples around Halloween!
I love caramel apples! That’s a fun tradition. Glad you enjoyed, thank you!
Such lovely traditions! My family likes to draw around near Halloween and seeing everyone’s decorations, and we have a local apple orchard to get donuts and apple cider. Thanks, everyone for sharing! x
That sounds really fun! And yum- donuts and apple cider, so good!
This is such a creative blog post. It was lovely to read the traditions others bloggers do in Fall. 😊
It feels like everyone has been to a pumpkin patch, but I’ve never been; maybe this year, I will try to attend one. An outdoor movie night sounds so cosy. Cuddling up under a blanket while watching a movie outside sounds perfect. Linda’s Neighourhood sounds amazing on Halloween! Grilling in their driveways and food to share!? How lovely! Michelle’s traditions sound lovely, and I can relate, as I love a nice cosy, oversized sweater.
Thank you so much for sharing Sarah, this was a lovely idea and has introduced me to so many fantastic bloggers! 😊
I’m so glad you enjoyed reading it! I loved writing this one. It was so awesome to hear about everyone’s traditions, and now I just want to do them all too!
I don’t follow any set traditions but it’s always nice to organise cosy nights once autumn rolls around 🙂
Yes! That’s the best, I just love those kind of nights!
Aw, this is the sweetest post! Thanks again for featuring me in this, Sarah! I loved reading everyone else’s Fall traditions! I may have to steal a few myself. Thanks for sharing x

Thanks for being a part of it Lynn! I loved reading your and everyone’s traditions. I have all the fall feels now!
It’s so lovely to hear what others love to do during the fall. Jennifer’s Oakland Tour sounds incredible! Thanks for sharing!
It sounds so fun doesn’t it?! I loved reading everyone’s traditions.
These all sound like wonderful traditions!
In the US my parents and I would always carve pumpkins, visit a corn maze & of course go trick or treating when I was a kid.
In Denmark, Halloween is not that popular, but kids still dress up & my daughter will wear a costume. We also carve a pumpkin together & watch a kid-friendly Halloween movie.
Those all sound like great traditions too! I love that.
I am jealous how exciting Halloween is in America. In the UK nothing happens much. Autumn leaves are so colourful and the fresh wind blows away bad vibes so autumn is fab in my book.
I love the leaves too. Always so pretty!
I love all these ideas! Especially the outdoor movie night, all cozy with blankets! I’ve never been to a pumpkin patch but it’s definitely on my list. It’s not really something I’ve come across in Ireland so I’ll have to visit the US during fall some year 😊
Oooh pumpkin patches are fun! And apple picking. The outdoor movie night is such a cozy idea, isn’t it?!
Love this! Fall is definitely one of my favourite seasons, and is a close second to winter – I just really love Christmas! When I was younger I never really celebrated Halloween but I’d love to do something for it this year, and I just love the overall coziness that’s become associated with fall! Thanks for sharing x
I LOVE Christmas too! I always say Winter is my favorite season, because I love the snow and cold and holidays. But Fall is very very close to it for me too. Almost a tie! I just love everything about fall and the coziness. Hope you do something fun for Halloween this year- that sounds great!
These traditions sound so lovely! Last year was the first year that I really got into fall and this year I can’t wait to decorate my uni house all autumnal 🙂
That sounds great! I love decorating for fall too!
